I was wondering where everyone places they're drip tubes for there 2 part. i did have it in my sump, but found that i had some precipitation, even before i overdosed. I am looking at placing my drip tubes in the main display, over or near my powerheads, one on each side of the tank.

I am also curious about about when you dose what. I know some dose alk at night to avoid ph spikes but i have l lights on opposite of my display light so this is not entirely necessary. I feel the one of the reasons i didn't have a catastrophic failure of my tank  was because i dosed cal and alk at the same time close to each other in my sump which caused  HEAVY precipitation. my fear would be that if i dose opposite times and my timers fail again, i would not be afforded the same luck.

Spread out your dosing. So if u dose 20ml daily, dose 5ml 4 times a day.

Does in your sump, just put a little power head in the drip path. It'll quickly mix the water

Put the drip in the sump right beside the drain from the main tank. This should be the most turbulant part of the sump. I wouldn't put it directly in the display.

If you spread out your dosing I don't think you would have a problem. Maybe have it drip right in front of your return so It gets stirred up real good?

I have my dosing lines hooked up in the return pump section of my sump.  That way the pump disperses it in my tank. As for timing, I dose my calcium twice a day during lights on and alk twice a day during lights out. Each Alk dose is spread out 4 hrs a part. Same with cal doses.

make sure you pull that pump out once every three months and check it for calcium build up. Those pumps get warm and will get calcium buildup if you dose right into that chamber. A 24 hour vinegar bath once a quarter will keep that pump in tip top shape.

+1

I have been dosing traight into the chamber with my return pump.
I dose each CA and ALK four times a day, and it get sucked into my return then dispersed throughout my tank.

i dose each 24 times a day, or once an hour and i dose in between my last baffle before my return pump, i have a fairly high turnover rate and the alk doesn't precipitate because its such a small dose many times a day, I have no buildup doing it like this so i think its the way to go imo.

so far what i have done till i figure out my final placement is dose in my middle chamber. i have place a small powerhead just under the drip lines having the flow break the surface tension of the water. i am dosing 6 times each a day for 15 min each. i dose the calcium 1 hour after the alk on the same schedule. both lines are sitting beside each other to utilize the powerhead underneath. I watched one dosing cycle with the alk and so far the powerhead seemed to be effective at stirring the alk.

i place some filter floss in the last baffle before the return while i am blasting/stirring up the last of the cal carb. to catch any heavy particulate. will filter floss absorb anything i dose. doubt it but not sure.
