38 Aio

So I figure I would start a thread seeing I am reduing my aquascape.
The tank is a 38g aio from innovative marine. As for equipment I am running a ghost skimmer, jbj ato and stock led light ( which I have had great growth so far). It will be controlled be my apex which is tied into all my tanks. My livestock list is a pair of Darwin's, flame angel and a Midas blenny. I am think I am going to try a couple of sps and maybe a napthia leather in this one, if it don't work then back to lps and softs.

I really must get some of this stuff for my new build (reef keeper I rarely make it to Hamilton). Did you have to do anything to the rock prior to putting in the tank?

I didn't do a thing. It had a little bit of old algae on it so it will just add to the cycle but it's extremely clean.

I figure an update is in order. I have a added a jebao rw4 for flow and will be picking up a kessil a160we tonight. My mini cycle is over so I am going to be adding some coral tonight. I put my pair of Darwin's in with a rainbow nem but it decided to go for a walk, I took it out before it could plant itself on a shelf. I still have the clowns in there and am still deciding if I want them to stay or not.

Well I got the kessil a160we all installed. Now to wait for my vdm and cable to come in so I can use my apex.

I put what sps I have in so I can start to acclimate them from the t5ho that they were under. I have the kessil set at 25% intensity to start.

I know they are too close but they are just sitting there for now. I will epoxy them once I figure out where to put them.

Im new to the hobby 2 years ago and I've been going by par , and so does coral reef shop, ( they helped me to learn about the kessil and its par readings)
Sps was around 350 par if I remember ( this is the middle ground)
And things like lps and zoos and softies are lower par ,
The kessil a160we tuna blue on a 15" high tank with about 95% intencity is a par of about 200 on the bottom , so about 7-10" from the light was around 380-420 ish and then about 5-6" from the water surface was high 500 par
So I always keep my 2 160's around 50-60% and start things at the bottom and work them to half way up. I hope this helps !
