Hmm sounds like alot of $$$ to me. Either a whole new facility to mass produce these or alot of retooling.
And since when did the auto industry want to start making stuff that lasts longer ?

well this is a big bone of contention,I'm sure these will never become mainstream as the costs will be beyond the average taxpayer

It would be cool if they made them so you just had to replace the outside tread part....cut down on rubber and cost.

used runflats on my harley a few years back,cost was close to normal but local harley dealy would not take back the carcass of them when i replaced them

thats called recaps  ..darryl...i dont think there is any for cars tho.....be more money then a new tire

I think they recap tractor trailer tires but I could be mistaken.

no they do recap truck tires and big earthmover tires and forklift tires

retreads are what you see lying all over the damn highways.  They shouldn't be legal, those things can kill people on bikes, or even people in cars if they come off just right.
