Are They Zoanthids?

I got this rock from a lfs and it has a big colony of somekind of zoa's? im guessing. They havent fully opened up since i got it on sunday. It seems to have some pink showing from the centers.

Thanks Torx, They do look like gobstoppers . Should i place them on the sand? I have it about half way in the middle of the tank, if you look at my display pic its attached on the side of that rock .

Middle is good. Or at least one of the strongest places I put mine. I thought they were higher in your tank for some reason. I find that if my zoas are staying closed, if I lower them, they tend to open up.

Yes potentially!!, but if you take your time and study up on it, it's no big deal, don't just go in there start cuttin shitz up like Freddy would, also let them sit out of the water longer to shrink them up more and display more of the mat for easier lifting and cutting..:)

If they are in the same tank together then they more than likey have some if the same nasties in them, zoa will take in the toxin to help defend against the palys:)

it wont do much against palys lol but can be deadly to sps and lps.... zoas have the ability to store toxins from other organisms so esentially anything toxic in your tank and the zoas can store and use as its own. pretty amazing but makes it deadly. and the most deadly poison in the world comes from a type of seaweed only found around hawaii which just happens to be where alot of the nice palys and zoas come from.
