Buckets of live rock sitting in water.

Hey all, I have four buckets of live rock sitting in buckets of water in my closet. they have been there for over a year now. Would it be best to leave the rock in water or dump the water and let the stuff dry out. I plan on using it at some point in time when i upgrade to a bigger tank but not sure when that will be.

I'd dump the water unless it's being circulated.

if its been that long with no circulation or heat, its probably cured rock, which is the same as dry rock, no die off happens.

i believe thats correct, please, anyone correct me if im wrong

I know when i open the bucket there's no smell. Just curious if there is any benefit to keeping it in water.
