buildup on heaters

hey all, started dosing about three/four weeks ago and now im noticing my heaters aren't working as well as my temp has dropped to 76.8 from 78.9 and i have a heavy build up of white crap on my heaters. i know this is from dosing. is it from alk or cal and what is the best way to avoid this. right now i have my heaters in the middle chamber and dosing in the overflow spot between the second and third chamber. plus what is the best way to clean my heaters and prevent this from happening again.

I also get a build up on the heaters and I clean the by soaking them in vinegar.  It works very well and the buildup is most likely lime.  You may wish to get another heater so you can swap them out when cleaning.
