There are many different types, some might not be discovered yet.

If they were majanos them polyps wouldnt be open in that pic, to me it looks like a type of sponge

Just a white sponge growing on a zoa/paly plug. Sponges do not well in the air. The paly will last longer then the sponge. You can remove it and let it dry off with a paper towel. Air can kill most sponges pretty quickly. Just take paly care when handling the plug and drying it to get air to the sponge.
