Hi all,
I got a new zoie frag about 2 months ago, and it seems to be doing fine. But about 2 weeks ago, this odd growth popped up from between the polyps and continues to grow. Sorry about the blurry pic, but that's the best I could do. It reminds me of a holly leaf with it's many points. Although the polyps make it take on a greenish tinge in the photo, it's acutally a very pretty lavender shade. When prodded, it appears to be rigid, and all one piece. My best guess is either a macro algae, although I don't know that it exists in this colour, or coralline algae that has decided not to encrust but have a life of its own. If anybody has any thoughts as to what it is, I'd appreciate hearing. I don't know whether to leave it be or relocate it or destroy it.
Thank you.
Chris
