i'll see if i can take a video later. the egg is covered in algae however i've read about ppl scraping the egg for viewing inside and watching the shark develop.. i'm going to do a bit more reading up on that before i try to scrap the egg. once done i'll do weekly videos to watch the progress..

Looks great!  Big Al's in Kitchener had some and the last time I was there I could really see the shark moving inside it.  It was fascinating to watch, you'll have fun!  Can't wait to see the videos.

Good luck.  They are notoriously hard to get to feed when they are born and many/most starve & perish.

Also be very careful if you decide to scrape the egg.  And if the store gave you advice to cut the egg open after x weeks, do not do it.

I've heard the opposite about feeding. I know they won't feed for the first 5-7 days and then after that should be no problems.

Also the store didn't give me advice on cutting the egg and I have no intentions to cut the egg. If its meant to hatch then it will. :)

He's just wiggling away in the egg case. So neat to watch. I tried taking some videos but they don't turn out right with the glare from the glass and I don't have an underwater camera with me at the moment. I'm gonna try again in a bit. I was able to peel some of the algae back a bit to give a better viewing window. Hopefully that will help.

That is just awesome. Looking forward to many more updates

Thanks

There will be a bunch :). I estimate the hatch date to be end of June to mid July.  Such a long wait once I read what I just typed out.  LoL

i didnt know you could actually see it?
Did it tear open or is there a transparent layer? Looks cool

it's transparent, just covered in algae. there was a small patch missing when i got it so i was able to gentley scrap/rub the algae back farther to give myself a bigger viewing window so i can watch it go. i'll leave it as it is right now unless more algae grows over it.

here are a couple of pics showing the stages and what to expect in the next couple months :)

Cat sharks are cool.... 8)

No large angels with them though.  They will attack the babies when they hatch, bite their eyes out and then harass them to death.

I found that hard to believe...but ended up having to move my emperor immediately when the shark hatched.
