Apparently its does work but is extreamly dangerous.

"While highly effective at eradicating whatever you target, the use of these lasers is (unsurprisingly) extremely dangerous and must be operated with utmost respect and care.  Class IV lasers will quickly cut through cardboard and will instantly blind people and kill corals and fish with mere incidental contact.  Looking at the beam from any angle may also cause eye damage, including those of your fish. I have worked with lasers used for medical applications and yes they are not something you want to just play around with, extreme caution is definitely needed. I would never try something like this as a sheer reflection off tank will cause eye damage and burning of skin. The ones I worked with you put the laser device into a confined machine where what you are seeing is all on LCD screen, and do to it causing burns, there are special full arm sleeve sections you stick your arms in to work on unit. I know a guy in London who burnt himself really bad from repairing a medical laser machine.

It would be nice to have a way to 'burn' two opposing corals away from each other, like this video, I find my montiporas like to attack a lot of corals with the cotton candy attack:
sunset montipora

P.S.  How do I get my sunset monti looking like his!!!!
