Sorry to jack the thread, but I thought I saw another build thread on reefcentral with an obscenely big tank like this one, guy was from toronto somewhere if I don't recall...

Anyone familiar with what I am talking about, or am I out to lunch as usual?

There are a few in Toronto area - most notable is nineball's tank but also aguare (can't remember exact spelling) has a big glass tank assembeld on site.

Nineball, that was the one...

Mark I read your build thread, i like the built in with end view, very nice setup.

Also, did you get to the bottom of the cracks?  Are they caused by too tight of an inside radius or poor manufacture?

The cracks were I believe caused by a bad stand (one corner may have sunk causing undue stress) but worsened by the corner radius being virtually a point.  I have 2 "cracks" - 1 repaired, one not but not expanding - those shifts seem to have released all the pressure, if they go any further I won't ever be allowed in the house again anyway :)

Honestly I have let my tank go to hell lately, got lots of coraline on the viewing panes (4-5" in some spots) and not much in the way of coral any more - with a 7 year old that plays every sport known to man there simply isn't enough time in the week to do all I want to and family comes first.

We may be moving in next 2 years, and sad to say but the tank would likely be left or cut up to remove since it would kill me to get back out of the house in one piece (in was one thing, out is an entirely different process)

hmmm, I love the layout of the tank, the rock work, etc, but the part that I would change is the way the openings are configured - my top bracing is cumbersome with the cross - would prefer 3 holes crossways instead of the 4 in a cross pattern I currently have.  The OM 4 way as part of the return is great, overflow is silent and doesn't take a tom of room.

I do not hate the acrylic (since I know it is fixable) but the ease of cleaning glass is a definite plus on daily maintenance.

My simple sump, skimmer, return pumps, etc are all fine.  The new LED lighting is still up for debate.
