Hello,

So I'm setting up a new tank and I washed my sand. placed it in the tank. The sand looked like it had lots of air pockets before I added water. I figured they would go away with the pressure of the water on them when I add water.

Well I added water and it didn't go away!

What is my best solution for this? Will this be a problem in the future if I don't address it?

Here is what it looks like

The pockets of air in the sand will settle??

I'm not worried about the cloudiness right now, I'm sure that will settle.

I'm just worried about the air pockets in the sandbed.

Thanks for responding!! Let me know if the air pockets in the sand bed was what you were talking about!!

That stuff is trivial.  You got a lot of things to think about when setting up a saltwater reef......air pockets in sand is not one of them.

Keep us updated on your progress.

Yah I premixed 20G of salt in a seperate container and let it sit for 24hrs and transferred it into the DT.

The transfer process was difficult so I dumped 10 more gallons of fresh water into the display and added the right ammount of salt and let it mix in the DT
