Either my test kit has gone bad or something has changed in London water. Up until now, I wasn't registering any nitrates or very little in London tap water until now? I did a 75% water change on the 65 gallon last night and the nitrates usually drop below 5 after letting the filter sit dry for the majority of the change. This morning I tested high for nitrates which is bizarre, even more bizarre I'm now testing around five in the tap water.

either my kits gone bad or something changed in the last few days.

can someone from the London area humor me and do a nitrate test from their tap? To confirm or deny that the water is actually the problem?

I do find it really odd that my Betta tank has stayed around five ppm but now it's registering at 20 ppm?

Maybe it is the test kit......

I just tested London tap water with my Exact Idip. Sure enough it has 13ppm nitrate. Thought you would be interested.

I wonder if all the rain we got recently caused it to go up, its never been a problem before...
