Hi there,

I have the NYOS Torq 1.0L, been running usually with GFO and carbon, but going to be changing it to BioPellets. This will be ther first time I am using biopellets. I bought the ones from BRS.

My question is: When using it in this reactor, do i need to remove both sponges? The one that is in the cap? And the one at the bottom of the reactor? so there is NO sponges at all?

Thanks

I do not suggest the use of biopellets in the Torq. I ran it in both the 1.0 and 2.0 and in both cases I had huge dead spots where the pellets just sat. I videoed it but my video program expired and I haven't paid to renew it yet. I tried a few different things but always ended up with dead spots.

I don’t see where any dead spots could be?

Here is a sort video I took of it, this is on medium speed.

The above video has the sponges removed. The sponge is needed as the spaces in the grate in the NYOS are so large that when the power is cut pellets are sucked back through and into your water pump. Some people remove the sponge for more flow, however that could wreck the water pump when the electricity comes back on. The small dead spot will quickly clump and start to increase in size.
