I bought a used tank, stand, and sump complete with plumbing.
The pipes had to be cut due to them all being cemented together.  Since I bought I forgot exactly how the pipes went and from what I gather I have an extra piece.

I threw up a little picture if anyone has any suggestions or ideas to improve efficiency or to make it a quieter setup please feel free.

I don't have the tank set up at the moment just trying to plan it all out.

Is the return line running through the bottom of the tank, I just wonder if it could be a return with a syphon break but going straight up like that it would need a piece of tubing or something to prevent water from squirting out down the back of your tank.

Your sure it wasn't an extra piece to start with? (I've done it before so I hope there are others). Could be the original piece that went in the overflow and the previous owner swapped it out?

Possibly.. lol.

Here are some pictures.  Guess in the end it does not have to be exactly what the previous guy had set up as long as it works.
