I’m doing a lab report for science, and I chose methods on purifying saltwater,:D meaning bringing the specific gravity to 1 I believe, or potable. Anyone have any methods, I figured I might ask on here since everyone is knowledgeable. I also want to be able to test these methods, so nothing that requires buying extra items or heavy machinery lol. I have boiling (obviously) and I was wondering if bleach would purify it, if you added the correct ratio? Thanks :)

Boil and condense (distillation) and freezing are your easiest options to DIY.
Membrane based methods...pressure driven (RO) or charge driven (electrodialysis) require specialized equipment... Tip (you'll wreck your basic RO membrane if you try it...)

Bleach breaks down complex organics but doesn't remove anything which is what you really need to do. Some organic fatty acids can precipitate salts out of water but that's not likely a DIY project either.
