Corals get rid of toxins and waste by water movement, so no I don't turn them off at all.  I never get any complaints of any of them being too tired to eat and float around.

Im sure it would be fine, but I leave mine on all the time, if fish want to sleep they can hide in lowflow area, and if they cant find one well... they better learn how to sleep in a current.

Returns plus a couple powerheads full time...one large powerhead that blows across the other currents (for turbulence) that runs 1hr on 1hr off during the day and only 1hr in the middle of the night.

I have my return plus 2 powerheads in my tank.  The only time anything gets shut off is when I feed - I only leave one powerhead on to help circulate the food.
