Strange Hairs Coming From Rock.

First off unfortunately I won't be able to get pics of this but hopefully my explanation will be enough. I noticed in my 29 gal. in a couple places there are these straight hair like tentacles coming from the rock. They're very thin ... like human hair thin ... and there's 5-6 per cluster that stick straight out and don't really move with the flow.

I'm assuming that it's some type of worm or something. Seems like a very plain feather duster with no colours. I don't think they're harming anything but figured I'd ask in case anybody here knows what they are. Searching online with several descriptions didn't turn up much.

Thanks ... Dave.

What color are they? Are they white with a thicker top portion? They could be hydroids if so. If they are growing away from corals i would not be to worried.

Not sure about either of those. Several inch or so long hairs (clear/brownish) sticking straight out and fairly rigid. They slightly shake with the current but don't flow with it or move on their own. They're not bending with the current. Kind of like if you had several skinny sticks in your hand only slightly fanned out and the wind was making them wiggle back and forth but on a much smaller scale. LOL

Google the above mentioned possibilities and see if they match.

Yup ... already done. Both of those creatures seem to have tentacles that are flexible. These look like several thin hairs that stay straight and don't move with the flow or on their own. Kind of like a tube worm with only a few very thin strands that stick almost straight out. I'm not sure if there's a tube though as I can't see where it meets the rock.

I'll try to get a pic later on but these hairs or so fine I think I'd need a semi professional camera to get a proper pic. I'm sure it's just some sort of filter feeding worm. Just thought I'd ask in case somebody knew right off the bat from my description. :)

WOW ... What a great little app. So upon further inspection I think this may just be a couple strands of some sort of algae. The way my light was hitting it, it looked like several strands that were very thin. But now it seems like only two so I'm thinking either a Spiroid Worm or algae. I do have this type of algae in a couple spots that looks like mini round seaweed. I'll update with semi-visible pics a bit later.

Thanks for the app Kapelan.
