Wave Or Reef Flow

Have a coral box power head. I have it on pulse, creats a wave in the tank.
Not crazy but a slight pulse, wave is about 1 inch in up and down motion.

Question.
Does this effect the integrity of the tank?
Is maybe just a varying constant flow better, it has a reef setting also?

I have read some people say that it is hard on the seems. I do not know any science behind that. Heck, there is a feature at the Vancouver science center that has a 6" wave and hasn't blown a seem since it was set up >20 years ago.

Talked to the guy that used to own the tank. Sounds like he questions this before and contacted manufacturers.
Says it is fine.
Custom tanks, or non reinforced tanks are where it might be a problem.
Mine is thick glass and brassed.

Its only a small wave, nothing like i have seen on Youtube.
Some are crazy.
