the cbb in my 75g is fading and I don't want to lose him... he did a great job on the aptasia and feather dusters.. he has been eating meaty foods, shrimp, brine and Mysis shrimp..did some research and couldn't find a diet for them.. what is your experience and what do you feed..

I'm kinda confused about the copod thing. If you have a refugium, couldn't you buy a little amount of the copods and then they would eventually grow and bread and fill the entire tank? Wouldn't adding a huge amount all at once create a bioload or chemistry issue?

This should be its own thread. I am sure a lot of people are wondering that or have similar questions about Copepods.

Good point on the copepods thread.
However, and I am no expert on copperbands but...if Heath's CBB is eating other foods readily enough, is it not possible that there may be a non diet related cause?

no idea, I did send a pm to Dave and waiting to hear back from him, hopefully he can shed some light, I just will that when you do your research on their care that something was mentioned then the consumer could make a better decision on weather to buy them...

totally agree, most people are afraid of this beautiful fish just for that reason...

Clams, and live black worms. Even keeping clam in shell, they can pick it out as long as it's cracked open.

If your CBB's issues are dietary, IMO pods will not help as they are not a significant part of the butterfly's diet. PE Mysis are far better nutritionally than others. Mine also gets blood worms and loves them but most of all since so many do all of those things and still lose theirs, I make sure to give mine a treat of Aiptasia regularly which also makes sure he keeps his taste for them.

Besides potential dietary issues, what other tank mates are in with him / her ?
Copperbands are submissive fish and can easily be bullied by tangs, triggers etc
You wouldn't have any tangs in your tank would you Heath ??!!

She bought the CBB from me awhile ago. It was a big one. I do not recall what the other tank mates were, but I do believe it would have been the largest fish. (Although like SamB said, they are very submissive either way)

Adding them to existing systems can be tough.

That's not a big Copperband she has. It's a bit of a busy tank, but not crazy. Try the mysis, and the black worms. They will destroy that stuff.

Mine picks away at pods all day, but it's a big Aussie one. 6" plus big. Ooohrah.

Are you feeding LRS fish frenzy? Im pretty sure that stuff has black worms in it..although my old cbb showed no interest in the worms lol. And it has tons of other great meaty foods.
