Darn it my turn to deal with this crap bryopsis. A while ago I had a patch and for some reason it disappear(happy lol lol). At that time I also added a magnificent foxface, just two week now after removing the foxface from my dt bryopsis starting to grow. I am going to attempt raising mag to rid of it, but I am not sure this will work. My first time dealing with this nonsense algea. Good opinion will be appreciate and I am also looking for a large container of Kent tech m if someone have extra or not using, thank

Thank you, I will treat the tank with only part of my corals. Most of my high end corals are in my frag tank. If all goes well with the dt than I treat the frag tank later. Still looking for a large jug of Kent tech magnesium

Apparently newer Tech m no longer has the trace elements that had caused it to work as an algaecide...
For natural control...Naso tang or the sea slugs another member is selling (if you have no snail eaters that would consume them)

Oh really, Kent tech m no longer have that trace elements to rid bryopsis! Dame, thank for the info.
I am looking for method that will rid of bryopsis permanently, adding sea hair or snail if it eat bryopsis will only keep it under control and not rid of it permanently.

Kevin try covering up that piece of rock with food grade black plastic, I did and it worked for the most of it, a few pieces still, but Ive covered it up again to rid the rest hopefully for good, it's a light consuming algae, kill the light, kill the algae, I also used hydrogen peroxide(in tank) to further the process

How did your corals do with the addition of hydrogen peroxide? Did you use regular 3% strength or industrial 37%? How much did you put in? Still trying to control that pesky algae myself. That is a shame about the Kent Tech M. I was thinking of using it next. I put in 4 of the nudibranchs but they are loo little I can't find them anymore. I don't know if they are alive or not. I saw them on day 2 after putting them in and never again. Now I'm afraid to suction the algae off the rock in case I inadvertently suck up one of those tiny nudis.

I found 3 of my little sea slugs in my filter sock when I turned them inside out to soak. I squished one of them trying to get it off the sock. So I put the sock back into the sump and they moved off on their own.
Just letting y'all know so you can make sure you don't lose any of the little guys....

Let us know how it goes for you, Kevin...

No ill effects that I can see, or when I did it in my nano, no effects either,,,it will make Nems, and LPS a little mad for a few minutes or so, also zoos will close up, regular 3%, if you are to dose straight into the tank, depending on the size of your system, I would start out at .5ml for every 20g of water, twice daily or three times if possible, then every day raise the amount by .5, while still dosing HP 2-3 times daily, do this for a week and you will see bad algeas starting to die off, --if your doing spot treatments, take the same amount, mix with half tank water, get a syringe and small airline tubing, put the tubing flat on the rock at the base of the algeas, them sneeze slowly slowly, you will see bubbles start to form, once this happens, move about a inch or so away and repeat the process:), hope this helps:)

I myself take rocks out and spray hydrogen peroxide on them and let them sit for 5 min and put them back into the tank without rinsing. Just don't do to many rocks at one time depending on tank size. If needed wait a few days and do them again. I find this had no bad effects in the tank at this rate but just be careful if you have shrimp. Do a google search for sensitive livestock to peroxide first. Add carbon to the tank too. I find the peroxide oxidizes in the water and at the very least slows algae on the other rocks. Best case it takes care of them to. I take a brush and every day scrub the rocks in the tank acting like a grazer. The constant damage and peroxide takes care of it very quickly. You will see the sprayed rocks go white very quickly. I myself don't like the idea of dosing a tank directly. I found it had a large impact on pod populations for some time after.

I am. Now I can't scrub the rocks, back wall of the tank or anywhere the algae is for fear of accidentally removing them from the tank -- if they are even still in the tank...

I don't think the fish like the taste of it. When I introduced it to my tank the wrasse take it in his mouth and split it out like 20 time like and goes through the power head a couple time lol( I know now that I should introduced it at night when the fish are sleeping and turn off the power head) I bought 6 and didn't see a single one, maybe one day it get bigger to be visible haha

My case of bryopsis are not to bad yet, but don't want them to get out of control so I have move most of my corals to the frag tank. I have a few questions, can bryopsis survive with only blue light, how long can fish survive with out light and many day of light out to rid of bryopsis? Thank

-how long can fish survive with out light?
fish do not need light - it can stay forever in a dark.
Corals can survive about one week but they will have huge stress, in a fact not all of them will survive.
Briopsys probably stronger then corals.

I'm using Hydrogen Peroxide with soda to kill hair algae. It basically kills everything, including corals and bryopsys. The advantage is: it kills everything only on the place where you put it on the rock.
That's what I'm doing:
- mix Hydrogen with soda to make a paste
- take the rock on air and cover affected area with this paste (just a bit). If this staff touch a coral - it will be bleached but not dead (will recover in 3-4 weeks)
- wait about 30 seconds to one minute
- put it in small tank with normal salt water , no rinse this time - just as is, covered in white powder. It may be some reaction in a water.
- rinse it after 5 minutes ant put back to the tank.
After one-two weeks repeat the procedure if necessary (something may left).

Hey members, thank for some great idea. With a busy summer and lot to do around the house. I decided to pull the plug on my dt for the summer, Yes I am going to leave it high and dry lol. Most of my corals are moved to my 75g frags tank and follow with the live stock. I will put all live rock and live sand in a bin close up in darkness for a couple months (at least two), that should rid any algea lol. I know how TFT love pic so here it is, most of my corals are chilling in a 75g frags tank
