300g + Skimmer Recommendations?

So....I jumped the gun, well sorta... in my original plans my SRO 3000INT would have done the trick, but now that I have increased my water volume I'm looking for recommendations for a skimmer (under $1000) that would work on a 320g-350g heavy bio load. SRO 3000 is rated 200 heavy 300 light bio load.

Anyone still using a JNS CO3? feedback? Rated "up to" 550g....
Reef Octopus Regal 250 which has a DC pump and rated at 300g heavy
SRO 5000INT 400 heavy
Only problem is the SRO skimmers are 6"-7" ideal water height....when my sump section is 12" wh with limited height available for adjustment

Get off need wheel, bubble blaster, wimp impeller garbage skimmers. They are inefficient, and when the pump breaks, you may need to drop a money bomb on a whole new skimmer.

Get the lifereef. I have the 36", with the large cup. Pick the pump you want. Start skimming.

Seriously. Call Jeff at lifereef.

Unfortunately the dollar makes buying a lifereef very expensive, I have the 36 inch running off a mag 18 and am very happy with it. I also recommend the lifereef for a large system.

Having a skimmer that will last for years and years isn't expensive. Even if you look at the exchange - a $500 skimmer at 20% dollar is 600. At 40% it's 700.

Shipped he is still under his budget. And when his needle wheel is obsolete, he will spend twice as much for the 2 skimmers lol.

The guy said a skimmer under $1000. I gave him an option that fits his exact request. $619 is the current price from Jeff for a 30" with a MAG18. He changed be I believe it was $80 bucks shipping. With current exchange, that puts him just under the wire.

If it was me I would long and hard at the Bubble Magus Curve 9. I believe that the Curve 9 would have no problem working your tank and for the money it's hard to beat. 10" Dia. at base with a nice taper to a 6" neck. Water level of 9" to 11" looks like something you could work with. Now getting into your sump is where it may be a problem because of the 10" Dia. IMHO this Skimmer does not get the respect it deserves. Anyhow you have many choices and even some that may not have heard of and the most important thing to do is make a list of what you want out of a skimmer, and don't say Foam because if you want foam just go buy a couple of bubble wands and stick them in your sump a with a big air pump and you will get foam.

Anyhow good luck with your hunt.

Does it need to fit under a stand? Height available? Is noise a factor (basement or fish room sump?)
Yes it is going under my tank with 36" height availability. It is an in wall, facing my living room so it needs to be fairly quiet.

Next question...are you a gadget nut? If you buy a phone you like do you love it and hate the day that you have to admit it is too slow or small to run the software you want...or 6 months after you get your Q-phone 6.0 do you feel like dropping it in the toilet so you can rush out and get the Q-phone 6.1?

I don't upgrade just to have the newest thing out....but when it affects performance, then I'll pull the trigger.

The deal here is what marketing tells you, and more often confuses you. When I was starting less than a year ago, I was SO confused, so overwhelmed. EVERYONE has an opinion. Most shops will tell you everything else is crap but what they sell. Meaning every brand is the best and also every brand is the worst. What I started doing was looking to peoples tanks, looking through their posts, what they have, how things are looking and HOW LONG they have been using it. What parts were breaking, then SO hard to find, or were discontinued. Needle wheels, pumps, etc, etc. Customer service from XYZ company, etc, etc. All while trying to block out the noise of the marketing hype and the next gadget. This is how I got to my decision anyways.

I just actually cleaned mine. The stink is still in my nose. Haha.

I'll post a pic in the tank of the month thread. Wish I took a close up. Thick and nasty.
