4 Legged Star Fish

I have a sandsifting star fish, today he came out of the substrate and he is missing a leg, will it grow back and what type of fish could/would have eaten.. not sure what happened..

its gotta be your R&B fairy wrasse. I will pick him up on the way home so he cannot hurt the little guy anymore Heath!
( if it is not him, it must be a piece of your SPS ).

however, i dont see anything else in your tank that would. I know my wrasses devoured a red star and I suspect one of my 2 sand sifters that i have....had.
funny thing, the other ones have not been touched. go figure! LOL

the star fish doesn't come out very often and I have never seen the wrasse even notice it, but, I will definitely be watching...thanks

its leg will grow back. he could have just got it stuck somewhere and detached it himself.... my seahorses have ripped a couple legs off my brittle star lol. if its on its way out it will start to fall apart like metioned before. if nothing is hanging out of him he should be fine.

thanks Steve, I saw him this morning and it looks like he has a nub where the leg was, it wasn't there when I found that he was missing a leg.. I do have egg crate and I wonder if he maybe got hooked up in that... none of the fish seem to bother it..

ya that or shifted a rock who knows. you will be surprised how fast it comesback my brittle star has 9-10" arms the one lost half and 2 months later its only an inch shorter than the others
