Alterative Sump Basins?

I've just redoing my 40 breeder *Will post a build thread when things start taking off. I've logged everything*, I'm going to be building a stand but I need ideas for a maximum volume sump. I would like to keep the stand no longer then 40-42 inches, about 20-25 inches deep.. my initial thought was to grab another 40b. But there roughly 100$ at big al's. my local petsmart here in Brantford doesn't have any 40b in stock. I looked into Stock tanks but they're too long. I've been thinking to use a 50 g Rubbermaid rough neck, online dimensions are 42.7" x 21.4" x 18". although its slightly longer then what I want. Does anyone have one and willing to measure it.? Will the lid fit on with water in it? I plan to utilize it to keep noise down. any ideas or issues with Rubbermaid's would be very helpful!. I do not plan to setup a refugium inside. I may setup a remote one later.

I considered bulkheading 3 20g highs together. it would be a neat project but, sounds dangerous and not very cost effective
