Baby Banded Trochus Snails

I only have two adults that came with the 29 gal. biocube and when cleaning the filter the other day there were a few small round things attached to the plastic piece. Upon closer inspection I found that they were baby banded Trochus snails.



After taking a closer look in my tank I've found about 6 or so of them ... which I assume means I have a bunch more that I can't see. Which is fine by me as I love these snails and for some reason they kept dying in my larger tank. So this way I can supply my other tank without spending a fortune on snails. LOL

I'll try to get some better pics as they grow.

Go back to your tank just after all lights out, if you see that many in the day time then take a flashlight and you will find hundreds probably, that's how I found my 100's of babies

Thanks for the replies. One question though ... should I be adding some Nori or something for them to feed on? There is some algae in the tank but most of it seems more like little pieces of seaweed or something. I assume that these small snails don't need much but I certainly want them to survive if possible.

Nope ... they're definitely Trochus snails. It's funny because I think in every thread I've read regarding baby Trochus that's said at least once. LOL

It's hard to tell from the pic but they're taller than Sundials and the bands are purple.

Any advice on feeding them? Should I just let them consume whatever's in the tank or should I add something?

I'D just let them eat what's there. There will be stuff that can't really been seen. It's always cool to see nature continuing it's self in your tank. Doesn't matter if it's watching coral grow or multiplying snails. I've got some baby's in my tank too

I think you're right Shooter. Right now on one large rock I can count 20 at least. Looks like I'll have some for sale in several weeks or so depending on how fast they grow.

There are a few different sizes though. Some are almost 1/4" and some are less than 1/8". Does that mean more than one spawning or just different hatch times?

So I noticed the two adult Trochus at the back of the tank directly beside each other (shells touching) several hours ago. They're finally starting to move on now. Could this be another mating session?
