Hey Guys looking for "safe" paint to carefully paint the outside of my backglass on my tank with a paint roller. What does everyone recommend? Ive heard of poster paint but I think if I drip water on it in the future when doing maintenance it would run off. hoping theres something safe from a home improvement store i could use.

I used Krylon but I believe it is only available in spray, needs to be well ventilated.

I just used acrylic black. $2 tube from dollarama. One tube did 2 coats on my 120.

Just make sure the there isn't any condensation or salt creep on the back pane or the paint will not stick at all. Clean it well and then dry it completely before applying the paint.

I used Tremclad as well, You could even put a piece of Black card board or plastic. Take it off once the Coralline grows in. I liked the colour of the back ground with Coraline and no paint to diffuse it. You'll get some different shades of purple with lights on, very cool looking.

I saw a video of someone that used plasti dip, you can peel it off easily if you want to remove it. I believe they sell it at parts source.

To those who have used acrylic, how is it holding up? My tank is way too heavy and awkward to move anywhere to paint, so need something with low/no voc.

Finding black in a liquid that is safe will be difficult, maybe model paint, would need a lot which could get pricey. Who did the liquid rubber in their stand? Maybe that will work as it would look smooth from the glass

i painted my entire inside of stand with liquid rubber even had a large drop in my sump(not recommended lol) with no effects on coral or fish. its food grade approved and almost no smell. jeff painted his canopy in livingroom. if you want it other than white most paint places or home depot will tint for free. Still got 3 .5 gallons at home and theres lots of other uses for it.
