wanting to move sump into basement and wondering what the best option for pump is I will be going up 13 feet and across the tank 6 feet with four nozzles across the tank was suggested to go with a mag 18 pump but at frag fest was told to go with a dc 12000pump will be running 1 1/4 flew hose up to a ninty at the tank to try and remove as much resistance as possible. just wondering what you guys are using and if any good used stuff available as well I live 15 min north of London if it is close I could maybe go the used way

I don't think either Mag18 or DC12000 would have enough flow @ 13 feet for a 135 gallon DT.

I am using a Mag18 for 11-12 ft head and there is not enough flow. I will change it.

There are few options: Ivaki 70RT, Reeflo Barracuda, Blueline HD 70, Pan World 200PS

I'm not against an external pump just Menes I need to drill the sump but was wondering what others were using with a sim alar tank set up if you are getting rid of mag 18 what were you thinking of upgrading to

I agree with you. Although my sump has already a port for external pump, I would prefer to run the pump in sump if possible. I have not decided yet. I got busy with other more demanding projects. With this thread, maybe I will find my answer, too :)
You can have a look (for reference) at a few charts that I collected so far at the link below:

Drilled 2 dozen holes in tanks and  have only ever changed one pump seal out.

Been running for three years now.

I understand the safety factor built in but with a basement sump I think you may be hard pressed to find an internal pump capable of it.

Don't reinvent the wheel.  Go with a nice trusted external pump rated for good performance under head pressure.

that's what I want to find out what TFT recommends I have been recommended a  mag 18 but now I found that its not big enough, but the reflo hammer would have like 2500 gph flow witch I think is way to much for my set up. I don't mind spending money on something that will last but want to buy the right thing the first time. the pan world 150ps seems good but so many options not sure what to do. LOL

Ya you are going to run reactors and probably a recycle flow trough the sump.  Plus you can throttle the pump flow back with no ill effects or damage to thepump.

If it's still too much then swap in a barracuda impeller.

Generally if you move less water you use less power.  So a throttled pump will use less power than a wide open pump.  Same idea by changing out the impeller.

Pan world . Blue line.  Iwaki .  I believe they are all magnetically coupled so that eliminates seal worries.
Reeflos all use seals and shafts.

Pan world and blue lines are the same pump which is in turn a knock off of the iwaki I think.

All good quiet pumps.

no it will be just a return pump, don't have a reactor but I guess I should plan on it if need later I like the idea of the reflo hammer, I guess just through in a bypass to throttle it bck a bit or do you just put a valve in to restrict the line

This is what i have running.  Its not nearly as clean any more lol.  That is a hammerhead impellor,  it was too much for me since i have 1inch lines for drains so i put in a barracuda impellor.  they are interchangeable.  So i essentially have a barracuda pump.

Things I would change.

-1.25 or 1.5inch drains.  Pump is too much for dual 1" siphons.
-The main discharge valve should be on the otherside of where the line to the refugium branches off.
-I should have a shut off valve ont he suction of the pump as well.

I have a Blue line HD 70 although at this point I haven't finished building the system it moves a lot of water and takes a lot of head for it to drop off much.

BTW the pan worlds were the copy.  Blue line was started by the head designer for Iwaki after he split with the company.  So all extremely similar in many ways.
