I wouldnt quite go that far. ya they can move and they can move fast when they really want to. I have 2 RBTA's, they stay put. once and awhile they will move a little, if I modify the powerheads or something. Mine are very large though(8" or so in dia), the bigger they are it seems the less they move. When I first got them i literaly watched the larger crawl close to 2 feet, I was amazed at how fast it did it too. All its doing is trying to find a happy place, once it does, it wont move unless it has to, or you change something.

how big is your bta? where is it in your tank(height from the top)? what kind of lighting do you have? do you feed it?

Re: BTA

I had one just split, but the clone seems to be sitting right on top of the mother in the basket clipped to side of my frag tank. Do I have to worry about 2 of them being so close? Is one going to die?

Clones usually stay close for a little bit especially if they split after damage but they will never sting each other, same chemical signature for clones.

My BTA's only move in small circles on their rock unless they are really unhappy.  When they are ready to split they disappear under the rock for a couple of days and come out two.

I went to kitchener yesterday, was planning on coming back last night but didnt. So the light was on since 8am yesterday till this morning at like 11.  Would this cause the split?

The final split is pretty quick but there are usually signs for a while in advance a deep fold in one side and/or the pattern of another mouth forming on the disk. It takes a bit of time for them to prepare, so lights on for a day or two wouldn't do it...on the other hand being in a basket for a while rather than the location of their choice, might do it.

It has been in a basket for about a month, but that does make sense. They obviously both want the same spot as it must be the best spot the basket has to offer. I would like to eventually egg crate off a section for bubble tips.

I did add two small clownfish to the tank the day before, they roam into the basket here and there, but haven't had any interest in it that I have seen.
