Well the time has come for me to say good bye. I can't see myself in this hobby anymore. The demand that the reef places on me is far too much for the little enjoyment I derive from the tank itself now a days.

I have met some great guys on this board, got some amazing advice, but alas I couldn't pull shit together to make my tank work. Whether it be a lack of motivation and or my rush to get stuff up and running, I just could never get my SPS off the ground and it really has killed my desire to continue in this hobby.

I want to just take a minute to thank everyone that made me feel welcome and all the advice that was given to me over the past year or so. It was a slice to meet many of you and talk shop here and there and I'll always remember the community that you guys have here if anyone I know ever needs help with reefin.

Thanks again and I'll see ya guys around.

Thats too bad.  Wish I lived in London and had more free time.  I would/could have helped you out.  At least you gave it a go, sucks that you didnt get what you wanted out of it though.  Honestly I remember tough times when I first started and that feeling of wanting to quit.  In the end I was glad I didnt but it sure does eat up a lot of money and cause a lot of stress.

Thanks Darryl. It is just a money pit right now, there is 1000's upon 1000's tied up in something that I don't really have my heart in anymore. I am sure someone else could benefit way more from my setup and make it work better than I did. It just needs more attention and dedication than I am willing to give it right now.

You got a lot of good advice, but didn't follow it.

Honestly you just don't have the personality type for this hobby.

Try target shooting.  Burns through money, but when you get bored the firearms are still worth what you paid (unlike salt equipment).

Part it out.  You're far more likely to get closer to your hoped-for $$$ if you do, I don't think I've every seen anyone spend $7K on a used system.

7k is just up there to prevent lowballers or to at least give them a range to go off. I don't expect 7000. However I do know that if I put 5000 someone is gonna offer me 2500.

Sorry to hear this!  All the best moving forward, too bad it didn't work out with the reef tank.

Thats the thing. Reefing requires the heart and dedication that I no longer have for the hobby. I made the absolute cardinal mistake of trying to "buy" my way to a spectacular tank which cost me 1000's in dead corals alone. Time and effort are the two keys to this hobby, two things I lack. I wanted to buy my way into a turn key setup and that ended disastrously for me.

I could have bought myself a pretty kick ass arowana with the money I spent making the conversion to salt.... :(

I got my eye potentially on something like this:

The Arowana is more your style...big, showy, fancy hood ornament on his chin...

Keep the tank! It looks good in your place!  It adds a hint of maturity to your collections that might otherwise be viewed as signs of arrested development.  LOL

Deal off the salt only stuff (lots of buyers for that) get the fish you really want.  My old black and gold Arow is the freshwater fish that I miss the most.

And if you go that route I have a big box full of killer wood pieces and plastic plants that you can have.  ;)

Sorry to see you go, it's not too late to reconsider keeping an awesome Fish-Only system. This may better suit the time and effort you want to put into the hobby. You can simplify things significantly and keep some very exotic fish in your 220. Just sell off your high end stuff and just keep what you need to keep your fish happy.

Hey dude... I didn't know you but sorry to see you go. yeah that was my question on a post in the GTAA - reefs are more demanding than keeping pet dogs eh? or a wife happy? LMAO.

Actually I lost 3 dogs last year, but the tank is doing fine and my wife seems happy.
