Glad you were able to finally get to the bottom of your issue. There have been many things written about the benefits of using gloves when working in your fish tanks to prevent potentially life threatening issues. I have the long gloves but must admit I sometimes forget to use them as I find them stiff and bulky. My brain sometimes says to me "Oh you don't need those today, you are only quickly picking up a seahorse, it only takes a second". (it is easier to pick them up than net them because they will hitch to your finger). I get the same as Heather and the pads of my fingers peel and get thin when working in my tank. This just re-enforces and reminds me I MUST start remembering to use my gloves. Hope the gloves help and you don't experience your issue again.
