Chaeto Is It Possible To Have To Much?

So I have a HOB refugium and it is packed with calurpa and chaeto. When I say packed I mean it is chock full of it. Is it possible to have to much?

Nope, remember they for the most part are a sponge!! Replace or remove some of the sponge. Your problem is to recognize when it is restricting flow. That is when it is time to trim.

+1 inly thing it does is eat the bad stuff out of the water long as flow is ok cant cause harm just a nice home for pods

Its good to trim it and allow it to grow, but if the water is still flowing through it then I'd say leave it alone.

If you have too much then some of it may start dying and release the nutrients back into the system, technically you have to harvest the algae to export the nutrients.

I harvest mine about every 3-4 weeks. It's never to the point of "Packed"

Ok thanks. The flow is not affected at this point. Anyone in the Oshawa area need some chaeto?
