Other than feeding and water changes does anyone else give anything supplements to their corals to grow faster?

calcium alk and mag need to be spot on.

if they keep fluctuating then they will impede growth. dosing those three will keep parameters stable and your corals will thrive.

depends on the salt you use and how much your corals use up in their day to day processes.

you should test your water to make sure those parameters are in check regardless.

I do a lot of water changes and still have to dose calcium alk and magnesium.  The more the coral grows, the more they need.

I just had a weird experience with reef crystals, a lot of people use the stuff so it's got to be okay.

Well I'm going foget those test kits and see what my water is at. I know pH has to be fine so if my parameters for the ones mentioned above are off that means the salt doesn't add enough in.  What salt do you use?  I've heard the new red sea is really good

depending on how much alk and calcium your tank (hard corals, coralline etc.) are using it's likely no salt would have enough.  Also depends on how often you change water.

i started with ESV B-ionic salt (mix ur own salt type of deal) great stuff but not available in canada. I switched to Reef crystals and i do get a slight brown buildup on my pump and heater if i dont rinse them after a mix but the corals and fish are super happy. I've done about 25 gallons of water changes in my system since getting Reef Crystals. I will probably stick to RC for i can pick up at IA which is down the street for me.

Ya I think I'm going to stay with it too (RC) cause I can get it pretty cheap but I do get alittle brown build up and my rocks.  I'm hoping a phosphate reactor will help with that will it?  As for my water changes I do 5 gallons a week and I only have two hard corals and my rock is still white with light purple on it... Eco-reef rock.  I have the API quick dip test and I read ph  8 and corbonate hardness around 200-240. Is that ok?????

im sure the brown buildup on your rocks has nothing to do with the salt. What phi is refurring to is a film you may get in the pail you mix the salt in. It only develops a film if you let it sit for awhile

Phytoplankton can be cultured at home, and can promote the growth of corals. Aswell as the bioload of the tank. its all in all A huge benifit
But its just an idea
