There were a lot of issues from DC pumps when first released, you don't hear of as many now that more companies are releasing them.

I'm pretty sure the only issue was with the very first batch of waveline pumps had a crooked thread pattern on the outlet, other than that it only heard good things room everyone. Larry has a first Gen waveline and it's good to go ND been running over a year now

Well the problems I was told was 1. total failure pump shuts down or stop pump for cleaning tank or feed mode and pump won't start again will try and it can not make past slow start. 2. was pump does not produce water flow that was expected. I was told by one store its not if the pump will fail its when the pump will fail.

I would love to get a Jebao DC-12000 and run the tank off the one pump.
I guess will wait a little longer and see if I can dig up some more info.

Thanks guys

Of coarse a store is going to tell you that. They are not going to promote Jebao products ever as it will cut into all other product lines. No store is going to say, "hey, this pump online that you get for $100 is better then our $400 pump". That would be stupid of them. Same goes to a lot of the reviews that you see. Be sure you know that the person giving the review is not getting kick backs. That is one main reason that I like it here.

All the dc pumps or at least the components are made in china except royal exclusive which is made in germany but is not CSA approved, some of the earlier pumps had issues that have since been addressed, most were controller problems, I plan to use dc pumps in a future build for closed loops but my return pump runs 24/7/365 so I will stick with my dart. I think the smartest thing here is to look at warranty and how you will get it, if you purchase from fishstreet then you might have to send the pump back to them for warranty which might be a pain, a LFS should make that less painful, but you may not have any problems either. I think you need to look at future controlabillity such as with apex as well.

Hi Torx, when I asked them about Pumps I never gave a brand name I just asked about DC pumps in general. I did not won't to say this but 2 of the stores are Sponsors and sell DC pumps so this is why I am looking for more op-ions specially from some that have been using for 1 year or longer. The more I think about it the more I am swayed towards the 12000. I love the idea of one pump to run the entire system, the feed mode and slow start. I guess that would be my next Question to put out there, Is running one pump for everything a good idea?

All the best.

Sorry, I assumed that one of the main reasons you were switching would be cost savings overall. A DC pump other then Jebao is going to set you back several hundred dollars, so anything else wouldn't have made sense to me. Hell, I can buy 2 back up Jebao's and still spend less then a Diablo with similar GPH. I shouldn't have assumed, sorry.

I run 1 pump only on my system. I want to get away from my mag and go DC as well as this mag isn't quite enough flow and is sucking up my hydro. I will be looking at the Jebao brand as the others are still astronomically priced.

Well hear is the scoop, I have been out of the Hobby in a semi kind of way. I broke up with girlfriend about 8 years ago and had to move just as my tank was starting to go a positive way. Well since move I have kept rock and sand in tank with water circulation but no Fish or Corals or Lights. Had to give fish and corals up this all happened rather quickly. So with the tank or should say tanks both 100 Gal. Fresh water and Salt it was either get rid or make a go of it again but this time make it a efficient electrical wise and as simple as possible, this is why I am looking at the DC pumps and LED Lighting. I hope not have to use a Skimmer, I would like to go with Algae Scrubber.
Anyhow just a quick run down and thanks to davesolo29 I have taken my first steps towards getting up and running. Thanks Dave and it was nice to meet you and shoot the you know.

All the best.

Ya, I saw that awhile ago, the box says UL but the power supply does not, again though, it is only the power supply that requires certification in Ontario, so replacing the power supply is the only thing needed, however, it was false advertising on RLSS's part.

Bet you feel like they're ganging up on you LOL, here's my perspective on the DC or Chinese knock offs, I too resisted the pumps, primarily because I was also told that they were not reliable. And the person who told me this is a Reef store owner. Not mentioning names here, cause he's a friend, So here's the scoop.

As a store owner he too ordered a bunch of the Jeboa pumps because everyone was asking for them, He gets them in and there were some issues with a few of them, No store owner wants to deal with customer complaints so he stopped selling them and they left a bad taste in his mouth, He believes in quality, German made or American made, he is also a distributor of Vertex and Ecotech so like Torex said whats he gonna promote and whos he gonna discount.

So as many of you know I too was against them because they were cheap and bound to fail but I bought a Jeboa WP25 and I love it, It performs well and doesn't hurt the wallet like a Tunze or MP40. In fact when I was looking for a return pump to replace my Loud Mag 3 My friend the store owner had some DC Pumps, open box that way theres no warrantee, I picked up one. 60 bucks For a Jebao 3000, multi speed, Feed Mode, quiet powerful pump. No warrantee but oh well, I guess that's his way of saying I don't care for them but it's what the customer wants.

I love my MP40 ES, but if it goes I'll get another WP25, I love the DC pump and I'm still a big fan of my buddy and his shop. I can respect his decisions but I'll admit it's a good product for a great price.
