Clownfish in general are tough.  And I think almost all the normal variations are still just occelaris clowns.

Imo all clowns are hardy fish.  :)  the only ones I had trouble with was a mean sebay clown. N a pair of skunks that kept getting fungus blotches male died then female next day...

So there's no diff between a Picasso grade A or B just colouring?
A lot of the time Grade "A" all three bands will be connected by the centre one.  Grade "B" usually don't connect and the orange is a little more dull.  Grade B go for about half the price too

It's just that I bought some Picasso b grade awhile ago, Like 5 years ago and they didn't last a week, They were small but I just thought they weren't hardy, So Platinum Clowns are just as hardy as Percs and do you think that they should be a certain size when purchasing any of them?

Clownfish are as hardy as they get IMO. Any clownfish that has been in captivity/tank bred and raised will always have a better chance at surviving vs a clownfish caught directly from the ocean IMO.

Platinums are born along side picasso clowns. If both parents are picasso some of the babies will be platinum. the ratio is obviously less platinum than picasso but if both parents were platinum you would get some picasso clowns as well

wyoming whites are occelaris and platinums are percula iirc.. you right they all are just mutations that have happened and selectively bred to get the mutation to come out more frequently.. like someone said above you will get platinums with piccasos but you also will get standard clowns without the piccasso markings from the same pair. out of like 100 clowns you might get 5 grade A 2 platinums and 93 babies that are a of lower piccasso grades or just the standard clownfish pattern.

The Wyoming whites were bred for 10 years to get that full white out of then. I read the article of the guy who started breeding it out. It's not as easy as people think.

Recently I had a sudden death of one of my clowns (Picasso). It was without any obvious reason. During my research, one reefer brought to attention that because they are mutations they may have different issues. Do genetic mutations species have a higher rate of failure/defects. Thoughts?

of course, in nature these types of fish either get killed off or arent given the chance to breed in the wild because they are genetically below par. 15 years ago clownfish breeders would cull any fish that didnt show the species correctly.. kinda like breed standards with dogs, sure you could probably breed the black out of german shepards but that would be wrecking the breed standard imo.
i love designers myself but most real clown nuts cant stand them or what is happening lately with all the breeding.. with that said i dont know i would go as far as blaming the death on the fact the fish was a designer... it probably had nothing to do with that.
