Dosing

Hey guys I check my tank every week when I get him Fridays for cal mag and alk
I notice my mag and cal never change but I have to dose alk 5 ml once a week is this normal tank is doing great

I think we all dose ca and alk so it's weird that you don't have to dose ca something seems off (or nothing in your tank is using calcium).  I find my calcium fluctuates a fair bit but i also tend to blame the test kits, it's hard to get an accurate read on calcium.

Mag I don't dose much at all, I think 300ml per month give or take.

i have perrty much all soft coral in my tank maybe 6 hard copral and there just frags that are doing well maybe its the salt i use that keepes it all up i use redseapro all i dose is alk

Ah could be then, softies can live in freshwater almost. Regular water changes could keep that up.  I never had to dose anything until I went sps...

I don't think I would worry about it, just up the alk levels slowly, keep testing, and it is what it is.

At the moment I do not dose Alk or Ca.  My system maintains  8dkh and 480Ca with biweekly water changes of 15g on TWV of 105g.  I'm using IO Reef Crystals.  My tank is loaded with chalice favia blasto and a few euphyllia.  I used to dose minimal of each to maintain 10dKh and 500 Ca but my growth was minimal.  Since lowering my Alk I'm seeing increased growth on my chalice
