DV Limeade placement

I picked up a piece of DV Limeade Nasuta from MJC at Fragfest, and it's looking pretty bland in my tank.  Wondering where people are keeping this acro to make it look it's best.  It's sort of a dull limey-yellow colour right now with faint blue polyps, and the polyp extension is pretty weak.  In various pictures I've seen it seems to glow yellow with polyps that look like a propane torch.

I've got it in one of the higher light places in my tank getting great flow.  There's a loripes frag near it that is glowing a nice green and showing good polyp extension, and it has only done that in high light/high flow places of my tank (browns out a bit and the polyps hide in lower light and flow).

I could mount it even higher if I need to, just chose the current placement because I thought the conditions would be acceptable and epoxy wasn't required - my favourite part about very porous rock is being able to shove a frag plug stem into the cracks :p.  Thoughts?  Who else is growing this thing?

Good to start new corals lower in the tank when you bring them home. I can't do much with a 12" tall tank lol but i place my stuff on the sand bed and then monitor it and move them up weekly. Nothing like placing a new frag at the top and cooking it in a day.... Been there....

IMO I think you should give it time as in my experience especially with sps they take time to adjust to you water perimeters and settle in.  I am sure DV wil chime in or someone else with help as well.

Thanks Benz.  There are a couple fields of thought regarding initial placement and light acclimatization... some say start low and slowly move up, some say put it up top and blast it with light to help heal any damage from fragging/relocating.  Personally I've never experienced any bleaching in my tank so I have rarely bothered with starting them on the sand.

I know there's a good chunk of people on here that have a piece of this limeade so I'd be interested to see where people are placing them.  It's not like I'm going to toss it if it doesn't brighten up, so obviously I'll see what it does in time :).  Lots of things look great just after being added so I was just kind of surprised at this one I guess.  My DV candlelight for instance immediately looked amazing.  Tbh most of the acros I scored this weekend instantly looked great!

I got the pink lemonade off of someone on this forum, I placed it in the middle top area of my tank. the other 2 enchinata I got off him as well, I kept the larger one and my buddy took the smaller one, mine didn't do well from the get go and have lost half of it already.  That's the way it goes lol.

Hey Phil. I think MJC might keep this one in a lower light which makes them a bit more dull and green. Med high to high placement (light and flow) to bring out more yellow. It's been a very good grower and hardy coral for me.

Basically I would leave it were it is and only move it to lower light if it starts to bleach (go really light in colour). Give it some time in a stable tank and it should do well for you.

On a side note it's one of those sps that look better under daylights than actinic and really shines (because of contrast) when viewed from above.

Nice to know!  I grabbed a piece of it from Salty and put it right up under the halides. I will move it to a mid-high spot where I can get more of a overhead view.

While we're talking MRT corals...I snagged the piece of MRT Purple Planet from the Frag Tank table, any recommendations to bring out its best?
