Hammer Coral (Euphyllia ancora)
Distinguishing features:
  • Crescent shaped
  • Polyps normally grow tightly bunched with shorter tentacles when compared to the torch and frogspawn
  • Occasionally will grow multi-headed tentacles

Torch Coral (Euphyllia glabrescens)
Distinguishing features:
  • Tentacles grow looser when compared to the hammer coral
  • Usually longer in length with the occasional multiple heads throughout the colony
  • Sometimes weakly crescent shaped but normally not as much as the hammer coral

Frogspawn Coral - Euphyllia divisa
Distinguishing features:
  • Tentacles grow in blobby mass like frog eggs
  • Multiple branching tentacles all over the colony
  • Grows similarly like the torch coral except for the predominant multi-heads
