Is there such a thing as a freshwater snowflake ell ? After much reading I am more confused as I understood all ells were saltwater.

Big Al's Scarborough had some small freshwater snowflake ells a few years ago. I bought one that looked like a regular snowflake in a freshwater tank.

I bought one of the ells and put it in a saltwater tank. After a few months of having the ell I found it on the floor dead after jumping out of small hole in the tank.

I am pretty sure it was a snowflake.

So my question is there such a thing as a freshwater snowflake or are they one in the same selling under different names ex. fresh / salt ?

They are not the really white echidna nebulosa SW snowflakes but they are actual morays. Some of which, like many marine species migrate into brackish estuaries and can survive in a wide range of salinities. Unfortunately they cannot survive long term in FW and are doomed to die usually within months when sold as a freshwater fish.
