nan said this morning whe found the sand sifting goby on the floor curled ...i got that fella at big als about a month or so ago .....nevee seen it out and about at all till a week later when i vaccumed the sand bed.  he was hovering at the back corner then that was it.  so i chalked it as a dead fish.  i have one sailfin tang thats always picking at the sand for food.    the goby is a bottom dweller?...can it really jump ?..and what will be why?

Sorry to hear dude. Sucks losing a fish.

That being said, I know I saw a few more of those gobies at BA's two days ago if you wanted to try again.

My sailfin is a prick. He harasses ALL new tank mates. It's kinda funny now cuz he still tries to pull a heavy but my baby niger trigger just takes a bite of him and send the sailfin swimming away pretty quickly. I too had a tiger watchman goby jump that hid all the time under a rock. I just recently put white egg crate over the top of my tank to prevent any more suicide jumpers. It doesn't seen to affect the Orphek Atlantik's ability to provide good lighting still as my sps and clams have not shown any signs of lack of light.

id bet it was one of those damsels you have, doesn't take much to spook those little gobies, maybe try a blenny, mine doesn't seem to move fast enough to jump and hes big enough other fish don't bother him at all.
