So I got a problem with my sump and skimmer. My skimmer operated at a depth of 7 to 10 inchs but that part where my skimmers sits is 13.5 inches. I tried putting rock under but in turn I don't have enough room to take the collection cup out.  Other than cutting the piece of glass out and getting it cut shorter ( which will be a pain cause everything is in it) I was thinking of drilling holes 9 inches up. I have a small diamond drill piece and was just going to mark a line off at 9 inches and drill a bunch of holes vertical.  Would this be ok?? What should I do??

if you cant put your skimmer on top of something, your best bet imo would be to take the glass out cut it and put it back in.

No point in cutting corners like this in a build.

lets see a picture of your sump... is there another section that you could swap it out of?

blob is right...this early in the build you cant cut corners.... corner cutting is for established systems :). Do it right now - you'll thank yourself in the long run.

hopefully you got valves on your drain.  turn them off.

get some buckets and remove the water in the sump and save the water.

put the sump out.

remove the baffle by cutting into the silicone. sharp new blades are key

scrape the remaining silicone away.

mark the baffle for a 9" height and score ONCE then apply pressure to snap off the piece.

silicone it back - use tape to make nice clean lines... or just smother it in place

let it cure for 2-3 days

put the water back in and away you go... easy peasy lemon squeezy.

take your 13" baffle and snap off 4" after scoring it.

youtube how to cut glass - you score it and just snap it. Its not like cutting wood. Similar to cutting tile.

ever cut glass before?

you use a diamond scriber (can get them cheep at most hardware stores) layout a straight edge at the point where youwant to cut. run the scriber along the straight edge to scribe the glass. push hard....and only go over it once. what i find that works good to break the glass at teh scribed line is go to a table with a nice straight edge looking thru the glass put the scribed line just past the edge hanging off the table. apply some pressure to it, and the glass will break along the scribed line. done and done

what skimmer do u have?....depending on skimmer might be possible to dial it in at that depth still. as for removal of collection cup instead depending on skimmer if ur worried about emptying it does it have a drain valve that way u dont have to empty the cup and have the drain valve empty into a hang on bottle or something, then every couple of days just take a rag and clean out the cup of leftover gunk?? dunno just trying to add suggestions.
