Hey guys picked this up a couple weeks ago, started out 95% brown with a touch of pink, now a little more pink is starting to show, also the tips and few branches are starting to go green, anyone have any ideas as to what this is?¿ frag is roughly 3" tall

Without looking into it it kinda looks like it has the polyps of a birds nest but the growth doesn't look right for one in the family. If it was heavily fragged for some reason with a lot of branches cut off or it was dropped and they broke off. That could account for the different in growth. Some of the branches kind of look like the forked branches of a seriatopora sp or a Pocillopora sp. Till I look through some of my books I am just taking a guess.

I think you might have to wait for it to grow some more and color up fully to be totally accurate.

Thanks for your input, I'm kinda stumped myself.. I also thought of birds nest but doesn't look right, polyps are but coral structure doesn't match,, I'm liking the look of it anyways, hope I see more of the green come out..

I agree it looks kinda the same but it is off. I will check tomorrow and see if I can find something. It will be interesting to see when it grows and colors up. When I get weird corals like that I make a small frag just in case. Find a small easily broken branch that doesn't mess the shape up to much. Or that will open up crowded branches so they can grow better.

I bet the tips will color up and you will get a green base.

I thought that aswell, I've already fragged a couple branches that were growing into them selves, they seem to be growing at a little faster rate than the large piece, no colour change with those though...i also hope that it takes on a nice green colour..if anyone can help that would be appreciated

That looks like a birdsnest that has perhaps been fragged a bunch of times - hence the strange shape. It's the growth tips make me think that it is a birdsnest, they have that distinctive curved pointy shape to them.

The tips and polyps tell me the same. Once it grows and colors up you will know for sure. It is still cool looking now.

Different anyways, I do also believe birdsnest, probably dropped in the tank and fragged to many times, hopefully I get some nice colours out of it anyways, thx guys...
yep it looks just like mine if i heavily fragged it..... it should grow a nice rounded shape over time at least frags i sold did and my branches are yellow but looks almost all pink with pe till you blow with a baster and see yellow again lol

My frags always grow faster than my colonies
