just spent two weeks in the Turks and Caicos islands getting my PADI Open Water Diver certification! I took 2 days of training, and did 3 days of diving, 6 dives in total. Saw so many amazing fish and coral. More specifically: barracuda, pufferfish and stingrays, anemones, lobsters and crabs, a caribbean reef shark, lionfish, an octopus, and so much more! I was inside a giant fish tank, except one that was 50 feet deep! Thanks mum! @Janice

Diving is what got me interested in reef keeping. One of the tests on the advanced open water used to be fish identification. I am not sure if it still is but I am glad I have some knowledge. When diving near Barracuda remember to keep your wetsuit over anything shiny. I have had a few interested in my dive watch and it's not a great feeling. When the dive masters spear lion fish which is becoming a common practice, we have found (in Grand Cayman)that the sharks are becoming quite aggressive to get a free snack.
Enjoy!

LOL to Josh. Sorry, I was there in 1994, and it is one of my favourite spots!! I am a diver as well-although I have not been diving since Colby and his twin were born-so time for me to brush up so I can go with him:)

Thanks Joe! I think it still is, I want to get my advanced certification as well. Yep, we learned all about the shiny things, I even had an experience where I had a baracuda about 1 foot away from me! Thanks for the tip about he lionfish, didn't know that... :)

Congrats. I'm a certified Rescue Diver. Been diving since I was about your age. Without the luxury of first being certified in a place like Turks of course. I froze my ass off in Tobermory in mid September. A few years later I made it there though and have been back 6 times. Love it there. Especially if you get off the main island. Your a fortunate kid for sure. Good for you mom for giving him that experience.

Congrats! I've been diving for years and am now a master diver. It's been an obsession of mine the last 7 or 8 years! I've been all over the Caribbean and the pacific side of Costa Rica to dive with Bull Sharks so if you want any suggestions on great dive locations let me know!

It's fun to dive after you in the hobby. You will actually be able to name fish as you find them!
