Introducting My New Regal Reef Octopus 250

I went with this skimmer based on member feedback and pm's as well as ruled out a few suggestions based on my own previous experiences....anyway, setup was a breeze and took about 20 minutes to get it from the box to the tank running. I didn't notice any flaws in the acrylic seams, something I have learned to check for based on previous skimmers I have owned.

Motor is dead quiet, I mean dead. I will post a video of the skimmer working and aside from the air draw of the skimmer you cannot hear a thing, very impressed.

the skimmer size was a shock - I could not get over how big it was - something I wasn't expecting even though the demensions are on Ray's site I just didn't think it was that big. no big deal, I re-routed some plumbing and not everything fits perfecting including the self cleaning neck cleaner I bought with it.

They're so pretty when their young. Then before you know it they are dirty old things... Looks like you'll have a lot of good years with her.

the SWC I had did a great job but the bubbles were no where near as micro small as they are on this thing. I went with a model that I can still upgrade my tank with and keep since a skimmer is something you will always need. I also was able to keep well under my budget only spending about 1100 I think on the skimmer and auto cleaner, I bought a few other things from Ray and my total bill was only 1302 bucks. so the 200 I saved will go towards a new led light for my 4x4 flood frag table. right now I use t5 bulbs but they cost allot to replace every 3 months.

Nice toy! Specs for air draw are huge...if you plan on having a long term relationship, I would seriously consider spending that extra budget money on a spare pump or at least a spare impeller. The body will last forever but at some point you'll need to rebuild or replace the pump and at that point, having a spare ready in the closet will seem like the best idea you ever had. Especially if it lasts long enough that finding parts becomes difficult.

agree, the dog looks impressed with your decision too, can't go wrong with that skimmer, the pump went on mine and the suggested replacement didn't quite fit like it was suppose to but I Mcivered it....
