Has anyone heard of or have any first hand experience with these skimmers? I am considering the C 01 has a small footprint the recommended water depth is perfect for my sump as well. From what I have read so far they seem like pretty good skimmers and I have a chance to get one at a good price.

They are newer, but not new.  I've been running the Co-2 for a while now, gotta be getting close to three or four months.  Aaron posted a link about these skimmers last week, he is thinking of trying to get them in to stock.  I've been very happy with mine so far, but long term success has yet to be determined.

I know Jroovers runs the co-2 on a 120 gallon. He hasn't had it long, but he will be your best bet for an opinion on it :)

Seems pretty crazy to be "rated" for 200 gallons with that footprint so interested to see what Jroovers thinks of his that is "rated" for 350 gallons if I remember right.

Beat you to it Jerry!  Yes, I think if you take the upper rating, and essentially half it for a decently stocked SPS system, and you will have what it will really be good for. These upper ratings on skimmers I think don't apply to heavily stocked SPS systems.  The Co-2 may be okay on a lightly stocked 220 that is primarily softies and LPS, but really won't do what is necessary for a more heavily stocked SPS system. What is your water volume again Derek and how heavily stocked are you?

That was the response I was hoping for. Lol. Look like a really nice skimmer, and about 1/2 the rating sounds more then fair.

Any idea why it is an aqua max/jns skimmer? Or aqua max manufacturer and jns a line of skimmer?

When I made my sump I designed it for my ASM skimmer which is doing a good job but I want something better and considering that the chamber on my sump is too small to accommodated the vertex in180 I have that I will use on my frag tank the JNS skimmer seem like a decent option. I would like the orphek helix skimmer but it's pretty pricey and would be a hard sell with the wife.

I asked that over on RC and didn't get a definitive response when doing my research.  I think JNS owns Aquamaxx or something like that and they are sold under the Aquamaxx label in the States.  Here in Canada I think they are exclusively JNS though.  Same skimmer, but I was confused initially.

Which ASM?  I went from the G3 to SRO 2000 Int to the Co-2 and the Co-2 is smaller than the G3, and about the same size as the SRO.  I've got a pretty small size skimmer compartment.  The nice thing though is that is runs optimally at a greater depth than the SRO.  I had the SRO on an egg crate platform, but I was able to get rid of it with the JNS.  So it seems like I gained space, which is nice. I think it is about 8.5 to 9" optimal, whereas the SRO was in the vicinity of 6".

My total water volume is about 105 gallons as for stocked wise I wouldn't say I am heavily stocked yet. The ASM skimmer does alright but now that I started bio pellets I really want to make sure that I have a skimmer that will do a good job.

I have the G1X. I know that down the road this skimmer just won't cut it and I guess it could be getting close now this is why I have been looking at and researching skimmers. My skimmer compartment is 10"x12" x 9.5" water depth and I know that is the recommended water depth so it would be nice not to have a skimmer on a riser. My ASM sits in the 9.5" of water too.

So I ended up grabbing the JNS come s skimmer C01 since the wife wasn't very receptive to hearing about the $500 Orphek helix skimmer just before Christmas and a month before vacation. Gotta figure out a way to direct my bio pellets into the skimmer intake which shouldn't be too hard to do. Gave it a quick wash down with water and vinegar to hopefully help the break in period. Will post pics when I get back from stopping the wife off at work.

Now it will be tuning it and finding where it skims best. I like how mine comes fully apart for cleaning. It will make maintenance so much easier.

So it's been a little over 24 hours now running the JNS s cone skimmer C01 and I will have to say I am impressed so far. Not bad skim mate during the break in period. It's been pretty easy to dial in as well.
