I never even saw that it only goes to 500mA. Just saw leds run at 2w instead of 3w, which makes sense now. They also don't recommend using on a tank longer then 80cm, and mine is 91cm.

I also noticed it says life of led 50,000 hours, how does this compare to other fixtures/ DIY, aren't they only rated for 10,000 hours? If so this just makes me more sure the LEDs can handle more current.

If it doesn't work for frag tank I will either use for half of tank or pop it open to increase current, I'm sure the warranty is garbage coming off eBay.

Will take photos when it arrives.

I know chrisstevens has 3 or so on one of his tanks, not sure of exact unit, but something similar.

Hi. I am still a rookie at the saltwater and reef game, but this is my opinion. On my 90 tank I have a Marineland reef intensity 48\" led light. Looks bright, the night setting is cool but I don't think it has the intensity to grow anything. Checked back with the nice store owner that talked me into the led in the first place and he agreed .Obviously didn't recognize me. My softies are fine, but no growth. zoas are fine, but no growth. 3 small sps frags are slowly draining away. Cal, mag & alk. are all good. Feed them 2 times a week. I'm going to buy a T5HO set. Sorry for the rant, just my 15 cents worth. Bill

Those Marineland LED fixtures are crap. They only run 1 watt LED's. Crees run 3w. They even have 5w Cree LED's now. 1w LED's won't grow squat.... Maybe some chaeto in a refugium. They may be a good cheap alternative in a Fish-Only setup but even then, there are far better units for that price range. T5's will grow out your corals no problem at all. I run a 6 x 54w T5 unit on my 75G tank and I can grow SPS no problem at all.

No question that T5 works on reefs, the idea is you don't have to replace the bulbs on LED.  My old T5/MH setup was costing me a few hundred per year on bulbs....

I agree. The T5 lamps are expensive and still cost more to run than the LED's. The 3w LEDs would pump out a lot more par value. I still don't trust them 100% though. I have seen many go back to T5's or MH because their SPS are not thriving like they should. I would love to see some nice results with just straight LEDs. I kicked the idea around constantly before I decided to stick with T5's as I have had great success with them so far.

Well you should swing by here sometime...all sps growing under just LED.  My only complaint has been the corals aren't quite as colourful as I think they should be, but as long as water quality is good, they grow great.

I will admit I've thought about running maybe 2 T5's for a couple of hours a day just to see if they colour up, but likely I won't (too darn lazy), but it's not for growth.

Don't know what you're referring to.  ;)

I will say that I am very happy. After 13 months of 100% LED's, besides blowing a couple of leds early on from overdriving them, they are still putting out the same light, still going strong and even the drivers haven't failed (I think I have 8 drivers running).  Overall very pleased, which is why I shill for the DIY CREEs so much (didn't know they had 5W ones now!!).  My total upkeep on lighting the past year: ~$15. We'll see how the next year pans out.

haha, yep salty cracker you nailed it. bastards.

jones did you ship it COD? if so then its your own fault haha only kidding

with COD the shipping company isnt taking any money up front, they want it when they drop of package to whoever signs for it. But if that person doesn't sign or isn't home...the shipping company will hold the package until they get there money from someone, so you being the shipper either pay the fee or you don't see your product ever again.  That is at least how it worked when I used it, as it was fine until I got burned.
