the replacement cartridges for the carbon and sediment filters may be hard to find.. i dunno.. i would recommend the full size model
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-4-stage-ro-only-system-75gpd.html

and you can add di resin later if you want and the replacement cartridges are easy to find..
just my opinion  .. others may have diff or better solutions..

The RO/DI is the same price oddly enough http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-4-stage-value-ro-di-system-75gpd.html

Also, if you want to save a few dollars, you can get it for almost 10$ off if you sign up for the group buy that we are about to do. No pressure to buy if you sign up, but if you sign up, you will see additional discounts on the BRS site. If interested in the discount, just set up an account there and PM my the email address that you used and your last name. Next week on Tuesday is when the discount will start and go through until the Monday.

Keep the item in your checkout for a few days and they will send you an email to your registered email with a $5 off coupon code, do this while a group buy is going on and you are laughing.

I do not have a water softner, can I still get a ro unit?

You don't require a water softener at all. The only thing is your filters and membrane might not last as long compared to one connected after a softener. Still well worth the investment.

On my 55g I had a few years ago all I used was RO water and I had amazing growth and coraline growth. I will continue to get RO water from the water depot until I can afford a unit. My friend is a plumber and says he can get real good deal from his supplier.

By not getting rodi you are not de-ionizing the water. Ro units remove like 90-95% of impurities. De ionization takes it too like 99% just an extra step thats worth taking for the investment of our tanks.
