I have tried Molly's there are a few issues. They are usually raised and bred in fresh water and in nature they are more brackish then pure salt. So none of the the Molly's I had lasted very long. So you would have to either get ones raised in salt water or introduce them very slowly to low levels of salt and then slowly ramp it up.

Long story short not really a great fit. Longest one I had lasted 6 months. Thought it would eat algae but they didn't. They produce a large bio load (poop). They are more aggressive eaters than other saltwater fish

I have bred and raise mollies in my salt water tank. The ones I have just had at christmas are 3rd generation salt. I have some in my DT for over a year now. Took me about 8 hours to aclimate the original ones to salt and they bred and died after a few months. The babies are the ones in my DT tanks and their babies are in my sump and a second tank. If you have questions or would like some babies let me know

They do BETTER in marine then fresh water. I bought a female and male put the bag in the tank for a bit to equalize tank and bag temperature. I then opened the bag took out half the water an filled the bag with tank water. After about 30 minutes I emptied most of the bag and refilled with tank water. After about another thirty minutes put the fish in the tank. That is what I do for all my fish , snails, shrimp etc. etc. etc. Drip = BOGUS ! 8 hours ???

After a year the Male is still going even though he is CONSTANTLY harassed by a pair of fire clowns ( NEVER EVER BUY FIRE CLOWNS !). The fire clowns killed the female after a month and constantly bite the mollies tale to the point where almost the complete tail is gone. The Mollie regrows the tail in a mater of a few days week and the game starts all over.
