My Reef tank had been set up for 10 years and I was having a problem with fuzzy mushrooms growing like weeds over most of my rock work and killing off anything and almost everything in its path. Anything that didn't have a potent sting (including a big purple tip SPS colony) fell to its never ending wrath. My leather coral was also getting too big for its location. The crushed coral had been set up for over 15 years because when I moved to this house I left it in place and it was getting compacted.
Deciding I had taken heavy casualties and lost the battle against the relentless onslaught of fuzzy green monsters, I made the decision to tear it all down and remove the mushrooms I could from the rocks with equal persecution that I had received. It also allowed me to make a few other changes. Like set up a fish room in the new location that is behind the tank and add most of my equipment to a now bigger sump. I like as little equipment as possible in my DT as I feel it distracts from the flow of things and that space could be used for something else like another coral. So I took on the huge task of tearing the main tank down and moving it all over to the new location.
The below link is where some of my pictures and videos are of my progress to my new reef. The tank has been set up for a little over a year now and I have had great progress in new growth. If you sort from oldest to the newest you can see the progress. The second and third picture is of my blue coral that was growing on the glass. I accidentally broke most of the encrusting part that was on the glass but it has since grown back and is bigger then ever. One of my video is in my old tank of my fireworms doing a mass spawning. Hundreds all over my tank came out for the broadcast spawn event. It was really cool to see. The other one is of my long spine urchins spawning. The last is a newer video of my tank from a few months ago.
