New Growth Color

Got a small bit of acro something or other from IA.  Brownish stalk with bright green polyps..... THis was a coupel weeks ago.  The tips are developing a purple hue, about a 1/4". Coudl be new growth might now be.  The base has got the same purpleing goign on.

Is this new growth?

at worked:) noticed before I left.  Polyps are still on this purpe growth.

could be coloring up as well as new growth. Most of the acros i had that needed to color up started at the tips and base.

Its a tri colour....tips and any new growth areas will turn purple...I bought the same from IA months ago.....

well its a good sign that my tank is capable of SPS tthen... score an initial point for DIY leds...  at least mine , not sure about what everyoen else bought :)  ;)

i have that frag as well... under t5's. Got it about a month ago but i havent paid much attention to it. I know its starting to encrust over the glue but i dont know if its gone purple yet. I'm going to check now :D

I think I have the same frag.  I know it was almost totally brown when I got it, and now is about 50% purple.  I too second the DIY LED's (as you know I do).

I know I gauge new growth a lot by the base.  If it grows over the plug, it's obviously  new growth.  If it then sprouts new stalks from that base?  Your coral is health and happy.

definietly expanding on the base... now that I have been told it was growth.. it was all brown when i go it... new polyps in the purple:)

I had a chunk of it that was 'dead'.  It re-encrusted and was bright bright green for a while.  Now it matches in with the rest of it.  To think I almost trimmed off that dead piece...

Sounds like yours are quite content.  :D

well see how it goes over the next month ... but for a few weeks time and 1/4in growth.. not bad i think.
