Got a my first skimmer for Christmas. It's been running since then, have finally got foam and fine bubbles, but it's still clear. Is anyone able to post pics of what their skimate looks like? Also, just cleaned it out and wiped this off the inner ring. Is this normal?

The whole thing with skimmers is you need stuff in the water to skim!! How old is your tank? How big.... What's in it.... Blah blah blah lol

You want the stuff it skims to be dark. A it should reek. Like death. I threw up in my mouth a little when I cleaned my skimmer today.

If you do t feel a little sick, the skimmate is too wet.

And what kind of skimmer is it

You have to dial it down a little more. It should be dark green. Or dark brown ish.

Mine is a black-green.

I dont buy into this "wet skimming" bs. I think it's just wasting water.

looks good, it'll take a while for it to break in. then you should get some good gunk

edit: also do you have a ATO? because without one I have been finding it almost impossible to dial in a skimmer in a small tank. the water level has to be consistant or you have to keep fiddling with the tuning. its a slippery slope add on thing then you need another, then add some chemical then you need to adjust something else. Reef keeping is like making a house of cards. ;)

I added alk booster lastnight and I seen it get sucked into my skimmer came home to it over flowing on the hard wood and its on the 2nd floor... Fml always becareful when adding boosters and if it gets sucked up your skimmer might go crazy! ( and I pournot in my normal spot, just this once it got sucked up) I have no idea how long it was over flowing for but atleast 5 hours.. What a mess ,
The skimmer is a e-shop psk 100 gallon hob
